For a very small amounts i use the virtual keyboard, but for large amounts I use Siri's voice dictation, personally.

For small amounts of typing, or when I'm reclining in the comfy-chair, I use the virtual keyboard.
For larger amounts, or when I'm sitting at a table or desk, I use my Belkin iPad keyboard-case.
