Thank you for your help.
I always back up my devices to iCloud and also to iTunes on my computer before restoring because I want to retain my data. You can connect the device to your computer, open iTunes and click the restore button there or you can do it on the device itself following the steps below. After the iPad is reset to factory settings, you can set it up as a new device or restore from a back up. To restore to factory settings from your iPad:
- Tap Settings, then General. Scroll down until you see Reset.
- Tap Erase All Content and Settings. ...
- Just in case you tapped the button by accident, your iPhone or iPad will ask you to confirm the reset, and when you tap OK it will start the process.

I did finally get my Apple ID figured out.PamI would start by figuring out your Apple ID so you will have access to all of your purchases. Here's a link from Apple that should be of help. Let us know after you have that done and I'll post the steps to reset the device.

Good afternoon!I have the IPad 3 and it still works great but I would like to reset it back to factory just to start over again. I feel it's loaded down with a lot of junk (my fault) and this would make it run better. What do I do?I also am not sure of my Apple ID. I think I know it but when I tried it, it said it was wrong. I know if I try too many times, it will make me enter a new password. What do I do if that happens?ThanksPam
