Re: [iPad] Re: No, Apple's Music Streaming App Looks Nothing Like Beats | WIRED

It depends on what you want out of the music.  I had Radio Tunes on here much of the day, as background music, and that was fine.  But that's radio, which, in my case, right now, means mostly background music at 320 kbps and exposure to new musicians.  For close listening, 320 kbps is unsatisfactory for me, though from what people have said here, most aren't a bit bothered by the compression.  Anyway, when you're out of wifi range, you have to consider the cell carriers' absurdly expensive charges for data usage.

I'd guess Apple's library will be big enough to satisfy most people.

I like the idea of paying a reasonable amount for streaming.  If the catalog's complete (an impossible goal, but most people, I imagine, will be happy with the most popular current stuff) streaming is satisfying, in that it completely frees you from physical media, which, now that we no longer need to be shackled to it, seems terribly old fashioned and klunky.

Pandora is perfect. XM is annoying. I can't imagine Apple streaming music giving me what I want. But we'll see.
