No idea.
Methods could be:
1. Optimise the OS more
2. Disable new features that can run on the older phone, but use more CPU power. I've read this is what may happen, so that while you can use a fancy new feature on an older phone, it will be off, so the user can choose what to have on, rather than all new features the phone can use being on. Good option.
