I have always kept iPhones and iPads in cases, partly because the tend to be slippery, partly for protection. The videos for the iPhone case I use presently shows someone in a hockey rink making 90 mph slap-shots using iPhones as pucks. After the last shot, the goalie picks one up and makes a call with it.
I had reason to take my nearly 3-year-old 4S out of its case yesterday. To look at the phone, you couldn't tell that it had not just been taken out of its original Apple packaging.
