Connect the iPod to iTunes on your MBP, click on the Music tab across the top menu bar & select the button to sync all or selected music.  Next connect the iPhone & deselect the sync music choice.  Your choices will be saved for each device.

I want to remove my music from my iPhone and put it on my iPod Classic.  Then I want to prevent my music from syncing over to the iPhone.  What are the steps I need to take to make this happen?  My iPhone is a 4s and my computer is a MacBook Pro mid 2009 running OS X Version 10.8.5.  I know this is a bit off topic but I am assuming the process will be the same?
