The (full size) iPad is practically perfect. It's one major drawback is its non-portability.
I've never needed and still don't need my iPhone. It's the wrong solution for a real problem - wrong size, wrong technology, obscenely overpriced, both in hardware and services. But it's what we have because it's what Silicon Valley came up with and everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
People are afraid of innovation, though, and will quickly shelter under whatever catches on. Fear of change retards innovation.
