Wow, love stick shift? I did learn to drive on a Ford stick shift, 51 car but probably in '52. I used to do some repairs on my cars but gave up when almost everything became modular. Like starter and solenoid in one unit.
I guess that I lost interest in doing my own repairs when I no longer had the time and no longer could even figure out what's under the hood, excuse me, the bonnet. You're Brit right.
Just watched an episode of 'Engineering an Empire, the one on England. I learn more about history in one season of the History Channel shows than I ever learned in school. We had hardly any history in grade school, and I think one class for one semester in Jr Hi. [We called it Intermediate then]
