If you add content to the iPad (music, apps, etc) then that content is not on the computer. A sync matches them up. And vice versa if you add content to the computer, such as music that you obtain yourself andf not from iTunes, thhos etracks are on the computer but not on the iPad
A sync ensures what is on the iPad is now also on the PC, and vice versa

It strikes me that 'syncing' may have different meaning depending on the 'neighborhood'. or domain.
On a TV set it iit means that the sender includes sync pulses that the TV set uses to keep the pixels in he right place on the screen.. [I don't know exactly how it works with digital TV.
I don't know exactly what it means on an iPad. And Computer situation.

Did you check out automatic photo albums in Yahoo Groups?
When you send mail to your Yahoo Group with photos attached, a photo album with attached photos is automatically created. When your group members reply to the email with photo attachments, those photos are added to the 'photomatic' albums automatically!
