If you're trying to think of the Surface 2 Pro as a total replacement

darned minimalistic for a Windows 8.1 machine. And the same would be
true for an iPad as well, if you were to consider the iPad as a
replacement for a Mac desktop or notebook.
But if you're considering the iPad merely as a portable computing device
which is an adjunct to a desktop or notebook computer, you must consider
the Surface 2 Pro in the same light, and 64GB is just as adequate for an
adjunct device in the Windows world as it is in the Apple world.

I will admit that I have no business need for any of this as I'm retired. Tech for me is new toys to play with these days. But I try to temper my comments to what it was like when I did work.
A computer (desk or notebook) and an iPad/Android device makes perfect sense to me, but I cannot remember any time that a portable device like the tablet needed to have a large storage capability. Even today, those that are eating up their storage on iPads are doing it with photos and videos, most other data is miniscule in comparison. I suppose there are those in some businesses that would find that they need a lot of photos and videos, but I would think that is a very small minority.
The Surface Pro 2 is designed to be a laptop replacement, not just another consuming tablet product. That is evident by the processor used and the fact that it comes with a full desk/laptop OS vice some stripped down version. I think that whatever Surface Pro 2's get sold, few will be with the minimum SSD in it. And once you start increasing the size of the SSD storage, the price really climbs to the point of competing with MacBooks and Ultrabooks.
So now you get to the purchasing guy. How do you make the pitch to them that you need a pretty expensive, powerful desktop/laptop AND another expensive tablet? Sounds like quite a sales job needed here! :)
