This would be good in most cases, but there are some apps that are tide into the map app that will not work with not work with the google offering. You have to go in and out of two apps, as easy as old map.

Gotcha. The home brewed solution sucks. Instead use the google offering. Just because its not installed doesn't make it inferior. Or use another app.
