>Hi, Thank you for your response. I just assumed I would need a power converter. What about a seocnd generation iPod? Does that also work on 100-240V 50/60 Hz? If so, you just saved me some money. I'm thinking now that I will probably just take my second generation iPod with maps of the three largest cities already loaded. The GPS capability of the iPad doesn't seem like enough of a reason to invest in an iPad when my iPod pretty much covers all my travel needs.

Apart from the technical issues (power, communication), have you also
considered the difference in screen estate?

I didn't intend to buy a tablet myself. I have a good smartphone (Sony
Ericsson Xperia X1) with GPS and wifi (and 3G, obviously).
I thought that a tiny 800*480 screen and a pair of stronger reading
glasses would suit me.
No, it doesn't - for any of the purposes I intended to use it for.

I don't at all regret buying an iPad (and quite some accessories and
much software, doubling my purchases for Windows Nobile) and canceling
the unlimited-Internet part of my cell phone subscription.

To be fair, I sometimes leave the iPad at home, due to those
dimensions.

I don't consider the iPad perfect. I particularly dislike the
operating system. Still...
