right. i do not want deleted messages on the server.  i only use ipad for email.

You need to set your mail to leave emails on the server for x number of days.  Then your laptop or iPad or both will download the emails before they are deleted.

For instance, when I click on the mail icon, it is synched with my yahoo mail account.  When I delete mail from the ipad, it is deleted from yahoo.  Instantly.  I can see it happen if my laptop is up and I'm on my ipad.

This is the only one I can speak directly to as it is what I use the most.

Well I take that back, Google does the same, although I don't have Google synched to the mail app ( I use Ginbox) it does the same.  Once the e-mail is gone, its gone.

can this be done on the ipad, or must I go on the website to webmail to delete messages permanently?  Occasionally have to reset my network settings, then all the messages I've deleted over the months are back in the inbox.  thanks.
