Re: [iPad] Safari just quits

When it and the others start to jiggle, you will see that each one has a little red circle with a minus sign in it on the upper left of the icon. To close all of these apps, just tap the red circle and, bingo, the app disappears from the line-up (meaning it is now closed, NOT removed or deleted in any way, just no longer running in the background).

What this accomplishes is to remove the app from the recently-used apps tray. In general, for MOST apps, they will ALREADY be shut down, using no system resources. Only a quite small percentage of apps have been written to either run actively in the background, or suspend state so as to return to where you were if you re-select them.

The procedure described here CLOSES the app ONLY for one of that very small minority.
I have exactly ONE app I use regularly which runs in the background, uses a lot of resources, and which I shut down in this manner when I'm through using it – my TomTom navigator.
