If you uploaded the files from your computer to DropBox, then open
DropBox on your computer and delete the files there.

Or on your iPad, open DropBox and look at the list of the files
available. Tap the "Edit" Button and then you'll notice a red circle
with a minus sign in it. Tap the minus sign and it will rotate and a
red "Delete" button will appear. Tap the "Delete" button and the file
will be deleted from DropBox.

If you've already opened the file in a different app, the file will be
stored by that app and you won't lose it. If you haven't already done
the "Open In . . ." thing to look at the file in a different app, you
will lose it.
