Re: [iPad] Viewing phase images on ipad

Has anyone tried Smugmug for photo storage?  Heard good reviews about it.  Anyone with personal experience, please share.

Thanks

PBase has the best viewing experience of any online photo storage site I've used, but it is run by a guy who is not customer oriented and there are malfunctions with it that never seem to get fixed.  Since I have over 8,000 images on it, I stick with it...also for another reason, I can put a link to a sound file (which I've stored elsewhere) and have the file run while a picture is being viewed.  I can also embed videos also stored elsewhere, which will run on the ipad as long as they're not flash based.
Here's an example of an image with a sound file embedded:

Pbase has a nice community of users whose galleries you can follow and comment on.

PBase is not cheap.  See details here: http://www.pbase.com/help/pricing

My second choice for storage is Flickr.  The interface isn't as uncluttered as is Pbase/s, but it, too, has a nice community of users and forums that are very helpful.

If you use the slideshow option on Flickr, the pictures look ALMOST as nice as they do on pbase, but you will have to swipe or click on something to move to the next image, because Flickr's slideshow is flash based.

PBase has a slideshow too, but the pictures lose quality.  It is not flash based so it works.

Flickr is MUCH cheaper than pBase.  For a Pro account $24.95 a year for UNLIMITED storage...in fact, you can get a limited free account to see how you like it:

I would advise you to go with Flickr...but be prepared for a bit of a learning curve (as you would have with pbase as well)

If you have your pictures on pbase or whatever it is called are you saying that you can get them onto your iPad quickly to show people you pictures?  How much does this service cost?

I'm would like to know what other services or apps for photos are good ones to have that don't cost a lot.

For those photographers who may have phase.com galleries...

I just made a discovery that surprised and delighted me.

When my images are larger than the iPad display area they will be shrunk to fit
the screen.

Here's one that is very large - at least twice the resolution of the screen.

I actually like viewing my images more on the iPad than on my 26" monitor. I
think I see greater detail and dynamic range.

No need really to load pics into the iPad because I can easily access my online
albums and loading time is very speedy.
