[iPad] Re: Repetitive strain injury

Because I am near sighted I work with my eyeglasses off - have gotten to that age were I can't see in the 18 to 24 inch distance with or without glasses. So I put the iPad in my lap causing weird hand angles to the side and found myself hyperextending my neck downwards. Not really bad but i have to watch that old whiplash injury.

[iPad] Repetitive strain injury

I just returned from the chiropractor with an interesting new fact. I have tennis elbow in my right elbow, but I don't play tennis. He suggested that the cause was using the iPad. I hold the iPad in my left hand and operate it with my right. I never noticed it before, but as I'm moving my hand around the screen I tend to keep my wrist bent slightly backward putting a strain on the muscle connecting to my elbow. He suggested keeping my wrist straight or bent slightly forward and move my whole arm instead of just my wrist.

I just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else might be having a similar problem.

[iPad] Dead Space for iPad and iPhone

Dead Space, the new iOS installment of the popular PC and console game, is a scary break from the iOS norm.

Dead Space for the iPhone is $6.99 and $9.99 Dead Space on the iPad
Dead Space might be the best all-around iOS game I've played, but it's not without faults. The visuals are effective and very impressive for an iOS game. The "aliens have taken over the space station" story isn't new at all, but it's pretty engaging nevertheless. The controls aren't perfectly precise, but they let you maneveur around in the game rather quickly. That is exactly what I like about this game, it pulls you quickly so it can scare the living daylights out of you.
Dead bodies are sprawn out all over the ship, some fly out in front of your face with horror movie musical cues, others jump up and start to make mince meat of you.

There are unsettling noises all around you one moment and then it quickly qet quiet, too quiet. Aliens move in fast as you fumble to get them between your crosshairs.
It all amounts to an impressively big and immersive atmosphere for your 9.x" iPad display. People who like being scared or have a sense of scientific adventure. Those who like the freedom of roaming a 3D environment without a chance of getting lost in the progress.

While Dead Space on the iPad is awesome, it could stand to be even better.
The combat is kind of clunky and the controls often causes one to inadvertently fire random shots into non threatening elements in the game.
Dead Space is more of a horror game instead of being simply a shooter.

Put on a pair of headphones, which is highly recommended and suggested by the developer, and get ready to get your scare on. Some may finish the game, but all will become lunch often either way.

This game is NOT for the smaller kids. This is recommended for Teens to Adults.

[iPad] World of Goo on the iPad is Addictive and Fun

World of Goo on the iPad is Addictive and Fun

Normally when you put Goo on the iPad, you would grab a microfiber cloth to wipe it off. But when you put World of Goo icon on your iPad, the wiping won't happen for some quite some time later. That's because World of Goo is a new game for the iPad that will keep you captivated for hours.

The object of the game is to build a tower of goo to reach a pipe. A minimum numbers of goo must be sucked into the pipe in order to advance. It sounds simple, but it can be quite a challenge at time. Either way it is a lot of fun.

This game utilizes the iPad very well and is fun for all ages. It has quickly become one of the games that I play to kill time here and there. Sometimes you won't know what's going on in this goo-filled world, but there are messages left behind by the Sign Painter, whose philosophical commentaries blend together with surreal out-of-game observations.

World of Goo's concept is very similar to the old school game of Lemmings; the early '90s sensation that involved guiding suicidal green-haired characters through levels loaded with hazards. The objective here is rather similar, although instead of guiding lemmings to an exit in each level, you're leading globs of goo across similarly dangerous terrain to pipes that suck them up. This rather odd task is accomplished by selecting the cute, gibberish-spouting blobs and turning them into nodules in framework buildings that reach for the sky and stretch across yawning pits like sticky scaffolding. When your wobbly structure is close enough to the level exit pipe, all of the goo balls that haven't been used as makeshift building blocks then roll over their former buddies to freedom.

Balloons are sometimes used to help suspend the goo structures over obstacle like windmills, caverns and gears. This physics-based puzzler is one of the most innovative and addictive games to launch on the iPad. Independent developer 2D Boy has done a great job at porting his World of Goo from the concole and PC platforms

This simple building game paired with the easy of use of the iPad's multi-touch screen, makes for an addictive and fun game.

Re: [iPad] Blocking your IP (was leave iPad plugged in)

There are programs to do that on your computer, but don't think there is anything you can do on an iPad. I may be wrong, though.

PS: Make sure you create a new message with a new subject when you have a new question.

Re: [iPad] Re: Flash program

That's because flash is a CPU and bandwidth hog in comparison to well coded HTML.
