Bryan,
Is this a new MacBook or an old MacBook? Are you running the newest OS (10.11.3) ?Like the other suggestion check the Settings page on Gmail and make sure the IMAP switch is enabled.Goto: Using Safari go to....... Google/Gmail/Settings/Forwarding&POP-IMAP. Make sure IMAP settings is enabled (on). Also on this page you can access installation instructions. If you are running an older Mac and or older OS / Mail program you may have to go to My Account and turn on a switch to allow less secure Macs and older OS to run.Goto: On the Google page. Go to....... My Account/SignIn&Security/Connected Apps & Sites. There is a switch called Allow less secure Apps. The default is OFF because newer Macs and OS have better security if you are running an older Mac or OS try turning this switch ON.Bill
