Good job. Glad I could help out. When you upgrade to a newer Mac or MacOS in the future just remember to turn that switch OFF. Till then if it works don't fix it!
We had this subject come up in our last MacUser club meeting. Quite a few of our club members are running older Macs and MacOS. Recently I think Google changed their settings for older software/hardware in regards to security issues that shut them out of Gmail.
Another good reason we should join and support MacUser clubs and forums like this.
