It's all what you like 😎 Some day, people may once again be blown away by Mozart. But not for now.
I don't know about future generations thinking our sound as primitive considering what the kids listen to today.

We see or hear a poor reproduction of something and, especially if we're convinced that reproduction is state-of-the-art, we're delighted.Spotify (for premium users) can stream in 320 .ogg format. It's a Spotify setting. Thing is, I don't sit and listen to how much a song is compressed. I will notice it sometimes but mostly I listen for the enjoyment of listening.

Unfortunately, so far as I know, they still compress everything drastically. The problem I have with iTunes Radio is that I put in an artist, choose the artist, play the artist and it's not only the chosen artist being played but what iTunes considered similar. Spotify lets you listen to full albums of the artist I search for. It also lists what Spotify thinks are similar artists to the one I choose.

Yet, their big distinction from other streamers is that they say they do offer CD quality. If they do, I imagine they'll blow Tidal out of the water. If Apple don't bite that bullet, and if Tidal don't get their act together, someone else surely will.Pat, it may be that what you were listening to on Tidal was not, in fact, CD quality. The only way to tell if an album's high quality - other than listening, of course - is to note whether or not "HIFI" is or is not greyed out in the album view.I tried Tidal for a month, but felt that the quality of my speakers was not such as to hear a difference. I've subscribed to Rhapsody for several years for half the cost of Tidal.Pat

Spotify – and Beats, Pandora, etc. – is the modern equivalent of listening to various radio stations in my youth.
The MP3/AAC collection on an iPod or iPhone is the modern equivalent of the records and tapes of my youth.
We used to use BOTH: listen to our records, our tapes, and turn the radio on as well.
