My sentiments exactly. That's why we coughed up the bucks to have a first-rate sound system installed in addition to an HDTV. It makes a huge difference with opera or concert broadcasts, DVDs or BlueRays -- not to mention movies. Worth the investment, at least for us.
Good quality headphones make the most of iPhone (iPod, iPad) sound as well. I like noise-cancelling headphones though some people feel they introduce distortions. While suffering through hours in a noisy, overcrowded steel cylinder barreling through the sky (i.e. an airplane) they help me stop myself from going postal on a neighboring armrest hog. 😜
