If imagine they'd look for a solution but simply add a disclaimer and train their employees on how to counsel people with wrist tattoos to use the device.

I can't help but wonder how many people will be affected by this. If Apple actually does find a solution, maybe they would exchange the watches so the people with tattoos would be mollified. Or, as you say, the tattoos could be removed, but I have a feeling a lot of people wouldn't be too happy with that solution.

That's interesting. I know nothing about the pigments used in tattoos and had no idea about their opacity. Thanks for the explanation, Jim. Do you think they will be able to find a fix for this issue and do you have any idea what that would be?

The only fixes that occur to me are the user finding an area where it works, and Apple using different wavelengths of light, which (1) might not work anyway, and (2) isn't a software fix for existing production units.

Then there is laser tattoo removal…
