Re: [iPad] ITunes: the dreaded other

My files never moved. The hard drive is the same one. The hope is that if I export the playlist tile then import it that the pointers will still be in tact.

Make sense?

How do you (or can you) import *just* a playlist if you've had to rebuild your library?

I had a HD fail a few months ago & have rebuilt the library but am still wrestling with playlists.
It's just a Big Chore!
OTOH a bit of forced-housekeeping is probably not such a bad thing.

The iTunes listed each song twice in its database (sometimes five times!!!) but the actual song only ever appeared once.

Hopefully what I did fixed it. I'm bummed that I lost my ratings and play count but I think that a working library is more important than my ratings which I have an idea I how to get back since I didn't delete the old library file yet.

Right.
The duplication would seem to be in the files; the playlist is just a list of which files to play.

If you've re-created your actual file library without duplicates, importing your playlists *should* leave you just where you were, except without the duplicates.
