Something must have changed recently, as I have lost my "lock screen". It no longer comes up after turning off the iPad. I have the latest iPad Air with the latest IOS. I did a google search, but have not yet checked the manual. You are all so knowledgeable and helpful, I thought someone might have an easy solution. Not sure what made it disappear.Jan
When you turn OFF the iPad (press the On/Off button for several seconds, then "Slide to turn off") — or turn OFF the screen of the iPad (press the switch once, briefly) — the screen goes completely dark.
The lock screen appears when you turn it ON, if …
If a Passcode has been set (Settings – Passcode – Turn Passcode Off), and
If it has been long enough since being turned off (Settings – Require Passcode…).
