It means what it says. But. That aside. You can re down  load for free and the apps are not required to be downloaded into your Mac.

There are purchased items on the iPad "David C. Putman's iPad" that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPad. Are you sure you want to continue?
