Re: [iPad] How, and Why, Apple Overtook Microsoft

Id be surprised if the users with a smartphone don't have a computer such as a desktop or laptop. Very surprised in the mid to high smartphone market.

Windows exists in 90% of desk computers, iPhones exist at a much lower rate, but the iPhone was the discovery, the cash cow goldmine. If they had brought out the bigger screens 4 years ago, who knows how big it would have been.

Whats a telephonic radio?

But the masses didnot take acomputer with them until th iPhone. Developing countries didn't get a computer on every desk but they get a computer (smartphone) into every pocket. That's big. Billy got into almost every computer. But not not every household had one. Globally. More households have pocket computers than do desk computers. Stevie got us the pocket commuter that made it to the masses. Billy never succeeded in his quest to get a computer with windows onto every living room on every desk.  That's the point I was agreeing with.

9 iPhones computers are sold every second. That's what 12 or so sold during you reading this sentence?

Gates is selling about 7 copies of windows per second according to Google. But as others have stated on the forum, the vast majority are to business users not families and every day users. Apple is selling to every day people that want a luxury brand pocket computer with a built in gps and telephonic radio.

This was said of a different product entirely, but if fits:

The advantage of a PALMTOP is that you *WILL* take it with you wherever you go."
