I've been doing a little web research and haven't found anything that sounds better (for me) than the Smart Cover. I like the four-fold leather one I've been using with the iPad 2 since I got it a few months after the model was released. Sorry to hear the three-fold doesn't work as well.
I was wondering if anyone had found a super-light case they liked, preferably with a clear back cover. But it seems like such an animal doesn't exist. At least it hasn't come up in my searches. Kind of surprising.

I guess my Air 2 has a "smart cover". It's a magnetically attached Apple-brand three-piece plastic cover that folds into a triangular prop for table-top reading and turns down the power when folded flat over the screen.Sent from my iPad
It's not as well designed as the Apple brand four-fold leather "smart cover" I had on my previous Pad, a Pad 4. The triangle collapses now and then, which I don't remember the previous guy ever doing. Other than that, tho, it's OK.
