>> The ability of Google to tap into the deep array of contextual data that people have living in their Gmail inboxes and other Google products is being leveraged wonderfully by the Google Now team. I've said before that Google Now can be considered reason enough to buy an Android phone, and I don't think Apple is blind to how good it is.
Google has said that its business model, more or less, is to gather as much information as possible about EVERYTHING, including its users, search through all that data looking for connections, and attempt to monetize that data any way it can. Including renting it out to 3rd parties.
If that is what you desire from your mail service provider, and your search engine, then you should go ahead and live in Google's World.
Some of us choose NOT to live in that world.
