Ok so the ATV has intermittent sound. Its probably a HW Glitch, on the
Apple Unit OR a HW glitch on the TV HDMI plugs/HardWare.
1)
Get your ATV replaced by Apple, or buy new one for $80 and if the
problem goes away you know the Apple TV was bad. If it does not go
away give it to friends or family or sell it on CraigsList for $50 and
you are only out $30.
OR
2)
Try the Apple TV on a different TV on the house. If the problem stops
your TV is bad see if it under warranty.
OR
3) If your TV has multiple HDMI ports some may work better than
others. If it has 5 ports try the ATV on each port for a few days. I
have seen USB hubs and computers where some ports work 100% some are
flaky.
I will give more advice on:
http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/TVStreamingAppleTVRokuEtc
and we have 39 other people there who may have other ideas better than
mine though these are pretty good. And it is great for the Archives of
that group since it is an Apple TV problem not an iPad problem.
