Now I am having a new issue with Apple TV in that it will not play anything on Netflix, whether directly through Apple TV or through Air Play.  Hulu works fine, but not Netflix.  I can AirPlay things other than Netflix.  I can also access Netflix through the Blu Ray DVD player.

Have you kept its firmware updated?

I looked into an Apple TV group but they do not appear to be an active group at the moment.
