Re: [iPad] Re: Organizing Pictures on Ipad / PC Win7

Tks Mary, I will read with interest tonight. Hopefully there may be an alternative syncing option that allows nested folders that would be very cool

I have been following this thread as i am interested in better organizing my photos particularly for inventory in my store. Googling around I found these two web sites and the NY Times article at the end. Hope this helps some. Mary Davidson

Q&A: Organizing Photos on an iPad
By J.D. BIERSDORFER
Q.
I use a Windows PC and an iPad. I'd like to upload photos to the iPad, but iTunes throws every photo loose into the Photos app. Friends with Apple computers can organize their pictures on the iPad into many folders by topic. Is there any way to do that from a Windows computer?

A.
While Mac users can take advantage of Apple's iPhoto program to group and organize photos between computer and iPad, Windows users are not without their own options.

If you keep your photos in the My Pictures folder (or another folder) on your hard drive, you should be able to group photos in separate albums for the iPad by sorting them into separate folders within your main photo folder first. For example, if you want all your vacation pictures together in one album and have your graduation photos in another album on the iPad, sort these images into their own subfolders within the main My Pictures folder before you sync them with iTunes.

When you connect the iPad to the PC, click on iPad icon in the iTunes window and then on the Photos tab at the top of the window. Here, you can choose the folder you want the iPad to copy photos from (like My Pictures). You can also select the separate folders you created within the main folder. Click the Apply and Sync buttons to transfer copies of the selected pictures to the iPad — where they should show up in the same folder/album groups that you have on the PC.

If you use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit and organize the pictures on your PC, you can also have iTunes copy the same photo albums to the iPad. When you connect the iPad to the computer, click the Photos tab in the iTunes window and next to "Sync Photos from," choose Adobe Photoshop Elements. If you don't want to copy over all your albums, click the button to choose selected albums and turn on the check boxes next to the albums you want to copy. Apple has more information here.

An iPad app that lets you sort the pictures into album folders directly on the iPad itself is another option. Photo-Sort for iPad is one app that says it does just that, although the program has received mixed reviews from users.
