Re: [iPad] iOS 7 UI rumours eek

I hear you.

Apple is a leader and innovator? In the past, absolutely. But today?  They may lead in the loyalty stakes, but not anywhere else that I can see. And innovation has all but ceased as I see it. The others innovate, take Samsungs S4 air gestures as one example, thats innovation. Apple may not follow, but they do, they follow features that others already had, many of the amazing things in iOS5 or 6 or both were already in Android.

They need to follow to a degree, so that the smartphone platforms move ahead. One may think of something, the others follow as they should. Some new things may be innovative, that would on average be shared amongst the platforms.

Samsung for example is a brand of sorts, the Galaxy range. But it has no past, no culture, so it innovates to gain acceptance. Think of it as a Toyota with lotsa cool features. Mercedes has the brand and culture, but it still needs to keep in touch with the tech of the day, as the tech of the day may be last years innovation, this year it is BAU. Standard. Default. Apple doesnt need to have the best specced tech, and it doesnt, but it needs to be reasonably current as far as standard features are concerned.

I have to ask myself why has the stock price almost halved in a matter of months? They have not done anything wrong. But others haved moved ahead.

They have always been this way. Doing what they want not what you want. ALWAYS. Since Day 1. They make stuff you didn't know you wanted. M$ is the opposite. They try to make what they think the consumer wants. Philosophically opposite approaches. I mean way back remember the Super Bowl 1984 commercial? Remember think different? I'm sorry if I come off as arrogant but they will not be the company you want them to be.. At least I hope they continue being a leader and innovator instead of a follower. And it's people wanting apple to do what they want apple to do is why I want apple niche again.

These days, that may be a mistake. Apple is still a brand, and an icon, but the choices are well out there. Maybe I am wrong about the Apple users, but there is only so much some of them will take if the OS goes to drab, and the ease os use continues to fall behind the other platforms.
