Re: [iPad] I need a new Mini???

If size of the iPad mini is what you're looking at, it's worth a look.  I love the size.  I had an iPad 3 Retina that I sold to get the iPad mini.  I personally don't see a big enough difference between the retina screen and the iPad mini screen because of the size of the iPad mini. My iPad mini is the wifi on,y model.  For me, since I have an iPhone, I don't need the cell portion of the iPad mini.  Besides, most places I go to have wifi I can hook into.

I originally bought a Nexus 7 because of the size.  I had it a week and just didn't like it.  The hardware was nice and the size was awesome.  I think because I've used iPads since they first came out and the iPhone since it first came out, I'm more comfortable with iOS.

Best advice I can give you, is to go to a place where iPad mini's are sold and play with one.  See if you like the size and weight.  I like the weight factor.  It's lighter weight than the iPad 3 I had.

I have the original iPad that I bought in the first week they shipped. Got wifi only, 32Gb version and it has done all I have asked of it.

I keep thinking I'd like to move to newer and the Mini seems to be the way I'd probably go. But then I start looking at the cost to do so and wonder what I'm gonna get that I really need.

I know it has cameras all over the place, but my camera phone has only taken pictures of the inside of my pocket, so I doubt that's a big deal. :)

And I know it has Airplay that actually does mirroring to my ATV3, both video and audio, which the iPad 1 doesn't do except for very, very limited apps. Things like MaxGO and HBOGo now do it and that could be handy, but I have to wonder if I would use it enough. Now I just start something from those sites (and ANY site for that matter) on my MBP w/Retina and let it Airplay. The downside to doing it with the MBP is that I usually have that plugged into a USB Hub and external monitor and I'd have to move it.

What other things could I expect that might wow me??

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Lloyd
