Re: [iPad] App Recommendation Request

I like the LoseIt! App for tracking foods, I can scan the barcodes of my entrees etc for the info.

CalorieKing for nutrition info of even more foods; They seem to have more ethnic foods in their database.

"My Meds" to keep a list of your Meds, any allergies, surgeries, etc. Good to have for the docs you're just meeting or maybe want to re-affirm your stuff with.

Also if they are on Insulin and not on a pump, IOB (Insulin On Board) Which helps then calculate if they are going to eat/no eat, etc, lets them know they have such & such units of active insulin running in their system (My pump does this) This helps in calculating what they should dose when they're going to eat, or maybe if they should grab a snack before a workout. If I am at 110 mg/dL and lunch isn't for 2 hours but I have 3.7u IOB, I will probably want to grab some carbs so I don't go too low.

I use an insulin pump and CGMS, so a basic app for me is 'Site Selector' This helps me remember where I have had an infusion site and then want to put in a new one, so I don't stay in the same place and risk poor absorption of my insulin. Also with the CGMS (Continuous Glucose Monitoring System, I don't want to place a senor within 3" of an infusion site.

If they test their blood glucose, I actually like the MyTelcare app. Whatever meter they use, they can enter their BG's, CHO amount and insulin doses/medication. Manually, then it it saved to their website. The person can also email their doctor or CDE the details in a nice format so the doc can help in advising changes in dosages, food etc, based on this data.

In the near future, the OneTouch people will be releasing a bg meter called OneTouch VerioSync. This will send the person's bg's to the iPhone/iPad via Bluetooth. mHealth is another company who will be coming out with a BT glucose meter. Currently, I think there are 2 BT meters out now, but I have trouble with their accuracy, in general. Usually I manually enter my results in an app.

But now, with the T:Slim insulin pump and OneTouch meter, my data goes up to the T:Connect software via my Mac. I've mainly use the nutrition apps.
