Have you trried different encryption settings or no password at all?

What I have a hard time imagining is that this isn't a common problem. I have spoken with Apple & my home wireless provider and neither has an answer for this problem. I would think that more people who use a windows laptop haven't incurred this problem. There must be some configuration problem between my laptop & iPhone, that I can't figure out in order to get connected.

It is trying to connect my Windows XP laptop that I am having difficulty. It finds my hotspot in the wireless list, but when I connect, it acquires network address but it doesn't show "connected", it shows automatic and it won't load any page. When I check wireless connection on my laptop it is shown as not connected. But if I switch to my home wireless network, it connects without a problem. There must be a setting or configuration that needs to be changed or modified. Any ideas?
