If I were in the middle of something important I would *ABSOLUTELY NOT*
upgrade the operating system. Especially if there is something important
that it *working now* -- why merely "hope" things don't go wrong with a
change?
In fact, I didn't.
Some years back I was buying a new computer, but I was also in the middle of
research & writing my MA thesis. I made sure to get the new PC before the
new version of Windows came out! I did *not* need any added worry about
things working differently, even if supposedly "better", or figuring out the
"new & improved" way of getting at things, or whether the old s/w would work
&/or what I needed to update as well, etc. etc. etc.
Is there some reason you think his iPad *needs* to be "upgraded"?
What's your hurry?
Is there something that is not working?
Has he complained?
If you update & things go weird, there's no going back. --
then what's your backup plan, especially WRT the one important prep he's
doing?
Why not wait until his cert is over & done with?

Thanks Kris, as soon as hubby leaves ipad at home I will upgrade it. Any
problems so far with ipad2 and any of the apps you know of? He is not a
huge app down loader, he uses his ipad mostly for email. The one app I
hope does not have a problem is an app he has for a Emergency Response
Certification class he is taking.
