Yeah. I see it didn't on my iPad, either.
Strange, since I cropped/resized BOTH images in the same software on the Mac, saved both as JPEGs, and emailed both to my self, because I was composing the message on the iPad. And there they both are, perfectly visible, in my inbox. And copied from there to Pictures.

I just copied the on in my inbox an pasted it below. Let' see what happens.
