beauty is in the eye of the beholder. lol. the terminal solutions is what 100 characters twice? or a button on a GUi? for newbies, in general, the terminal is ugly
I don't know that terminal hacks are ugly; they're rather elegant in their own way, Anyway, here is the Terminal command to disable general window animations:

The bounce sounds like it ought to be a setting, but I've never seen it happen, and I find no setting in Mail Preferences for it.
