I tried Tidal for a month, but felt that the quality of my speakers was not such as to hear a difference. I've subscribed to Rhapsody for several years for half the cost of Tidal.

Spotify – and Beats, Pandora, etc. – is the modern equivalent of listening to various radio stations in my youth.
The MP3/AAC collection on an iPod or iPhone is the modern equivalent of the records and tapes of my youth.
We used to use BOTH: listen to our records, our tapes, and turn the radio on as well.
