IMAP and POP are IMO old hat. The majority of users are not IT literate, they are more comfortable with Gmail, Yahoo or Microsoft webmail.

IMAP is an e-mail protocol and was possible even on the original iPad --
it has nothing to do with which iPad model you're using.
