So on one hand you carefully take the time to point out that the suggested method uses 30 megs per month then negate that by saying it don't matter cuz iMessage does not use a bunch of data…

Exactly correct.
30 megabytes is a very small amount of data for a cellular data plan while at the same time being a HUGE amount of texting.

My calculation, for nice round numbers, was 1 million characters per day.

If you type 2 characters per second, and do that continuously, non-stop, for 24 hours, you will in fact have output only 24*3600*2 = 172,800 characters.

At 2 characters per second continuously, non-stop, for a month – no food breaks, no pee breaks, just texting, your month's total is only 5,184,000 characters, a little over 5 megabytes.

Do you know anyone who does even one tenth of that much?
