Re: [iPad] iPad Pro Review: Why I Returned the New iPad

That certainly would be a good thing to do, but even with great reviews I always get a trial of software to ensure it will meet my personal needs.  Let me give an example.

Back in the day I was looking for music engraving software.  The big boys on the block were and are, Finale and Sibelius.  Both offered trials.  When I had started my research I was convinced from reviews that Sibelius First would be more than enough for me.  So I got the trial, nope, missing some features so I then downloaded trials of Sibelius and Finale and worked with both for the time period allowed, which I think was 30 days but am not sure of that.

After the trials I determined that Sibelius was what I wanted so I ponied up the very high price for it.  Never regretted it.

Had I just bought based on reviews, I would have bought Sibelius First and been unhappy.  It was cheaper and moving from it to the full Sibelius would be more costly than buying Sibelius' pro version outright.  This holds true today with pro level software.  It has significant cost so just basing a purchase on reviews can often lead to money just thrown away.

How about reading reviews of apps before purchase. If there aren't any in the App Store for the app you want, a quick Google search might bring up a review.

The iPad Pro has the capability of running much more powerful software.  But it will take some changes to the app store before lots will show up I think.  The lack of any way to offer 'trial' or time-limited apps on the store will probably keep some developers from bringing them to the store.

I think Apple has to change that policy with the app store.  The way it is now, it is hard to have apps that have significant cost to garner a market.  We are all too used to the cheapness of iOS apps.
