Re: [iPad] POP/IMAP

I agree Betsy. I've had lots of problems using POP and IMAP at the same time.  I figure since I setup my iPad and iPhone using the auto setup of the mail app and that's IMAP, why use POP on my Mac.  That only makes it so I get all the mail I've already read on my other devices when I get mail on them.

If you manage to maintain a server that handles one account being accessed via POP and IMAP, then I applaud your technical skill (and am deeply curious about what platform you're using).

However, in a general use list like this one, a lot of people are going to be using servers that do NOT handle POP and IMAP well on the same account. I know for a fact that this will deeply louse up an account on many types of servers, and at best it's going to be extremely confusing as each protocol will miss some transactions done by the other. So I am sure we should be advising people to try to avoid doing this. .
