Is yahoo nuts? Why charge for IMAP when Apple, Gmail and others allow it for free?

When I tried switching from POP to IMAP on my PC using IE I got a message saying that I would have to upgrade to Yahoo's Plus version of their email which required an extra yearly fee. I didn't want to pay the extra fee since Gmail gives me that for free. Yahoo is still POP on my computer and IMAP on my iOS devices. It has not caused me any problems or conflicts.PeteIn a web browser on a computer, it's automatic without the extra yearly fee.
TedSent from my iPad AirYahoo charges an extra yearly fee to use IMAP on a computer, on a mobile device it's automatic without the extra yearly fee.PeteAfter many years of POP email and carrying it over to a new computer, I finally got my entire family to stop using client software and just use Gmail or Yahoo with IMAP.With IMAP, you just go to the Gmail/Yahoo Trash folder and retrieve the item you accidentally deleted.
TedSent from my iPad AirI use POP on multiple devices because I don't want to either keep
everything-on-everything or accidentally delete something (that I don't want
on my phone) and not get it later on my PC where I do want to keep/deal with
it.
My system works for me; others would find it highly inconvenient!
YMMV.

POP is good if you have only one mail machine. Increasingly, we have many.
