If the voltage an the amperage is sufficient the charger should work.  It doesn't matter if the amperage is high.  It can't be too low.  The voltage has to be the same.

There are sometimes other considerations but I doubt they'd apply here.  Both come from Apple so you're not likely to have one a switching power supply and one not or one regulated and one not.  And there's not likely to be a wiring difference if the cables are interchangeable.

Here's something I haven't seen any of you folks doing. I grabbed a reading glass and read the little fine print on the side of both of my chargers. One, the older one, said for iPod and didn't give the watt rating but 5V X 1A=5 watts. My new charger for my ipad2 says 10 watts. So that's the difference folks. You gotta read the fine print. My guess is the cables are the same...but I'm just guessing because it would make sense because they can't put fine print on the cables or they would have to color code them or something.
Hmmm still looks like it's Sharpie time though.
