I know very little about how the iPad functions.

Are you saying that I can synch photos in a folder on my pc with the iPad and transfer them wirelessly, much like my Google information from the computer is synched with my Droid 2 phone?

Of course, if I'm traveling with a digital camera and want to transfer images from my camera to the iPad I would have to use a usb cord, right (of course if the new IPad has an SD port that would be nice, although my dslr takes compact flash cards.

iTunes and the iPad already does a great job of handling pictures. All you have to do is setup a folder and a bunch of sub folders to keep them organized on you Mac/PC and sync them with the ipad and it's all done for you.
