As others have answered you.

Here's another way to get apps. Either from the app store, or from an external USB DVD/CD drive, or you can share your iMac or other Mac's DVD with the MacBook Air.

And of course it is a full fledged, intel based Mac, so anything you can do on other Macs can be done on the Air as long as you take into account the lowered internal storage space. Some things wouldn't be too good on it because of space limitations, slower processor and less RAM in many cases.
