These are the current production models, all come with the 1 year new warranty, and are eligible for AppleCare. The only difference that I can tell between the new and refurb (other than price) is the box it comes in.
Most of the Apple gear I've bought over the years has been refurbs and I've never gotten a dud, but did save a few bucks.
