Re: [iPad] Macbook Air

What exactly is a refurbished unit?   Isn't it one that was returned - possibly because of problems?   I like the price, but am a bit leery.

Thanks for the quick review. I'm tempted to buy the Mac Air 11 inch and give my old Mac Air 13 inch with 64gb SSD to my wife. The price is attractive too at $849 refurb.

Good tip,
Eb

I just got my 11.6" MacBook Air a couple of weeks ago. I got it at the 'special deals' for $849 for the basic model.

I got it for 3 reasons :
1. I wanted it. :)
2. I wanted a portable to use as an HTPC
3. I wanted a portable for the occasional trip to do the things the iPad doesn't do well.

I got a good deal as it cover all those things quite well.

It is very quick because of the SSDs vice HD for storage. The screen is very crisp and very readable even for my poor eyes. The keyboard is very nice, about the size of the wireless keyboard that comes with the iMac. The glass surfaced trackpad is a very nice trackpad. Even better than the Magic Trackpad although smaller.

Hope this helps.
Lloyd

The 64Gb model leaves about 40Gb for your use as it ships with OS and iLife installed. I toyed with the idea of deleting some of the things I won't use on it, like GarageBand, but haven't found a need to do that.
