Winners of the 2010 Best App Ever iOS App Awards Announced
148Apps recently released the winners of the 2010 Best App Ever Awards honoring the best iOS apps and games released in Apple's iTunes App Store.
148Apps created the Best App Ever awards in 2008 to celebrate the efforts of app developers and to raise user awareness about the best apps available; not just the top selling ones. This is the third annual competition and the first to include apps designed for Apple's iPad that first went on sale last year. In the competition, apps are nominated and then voted on by the people who know the best apps, the users of the apps themselves.
"The goal of the awards was to help publicize some applications that people may never have seen. Some of the best apps have never been featured on the iTunes front page or in an iPhone TV ad, yet they deserve recognition and publicity for the great work the developers have done." said Jeff Scott, founder of 148Apps and the Best App Ever Awards.
Nominations were opened in November 2010 for the public to nominate their favorite apps of the year. From the nearly 90,000 initial nominations, 148Apps staff selected the 609 final nominees from the apps that got the most nominations in each category.
During the 25 day voting phase in January 2011, 148Apps saw nearly 500,000 votes cast for these amazing apps. Their list consisted of both iPhone apps and iPad apps.

For this site, I will focus on the iPad apps only. For some of the categories, I will add an Editor's "I Can't Believe they Didn't Include this One - ICBTDITO" entry for an app that I believe should have made the list. My entry will only include apps that were launched prior November 2010 when nominations were accepted. If you have some apps that should have made the list, please let me know to include them as well.
